The Old Man

The preacher told us just today,
From upon the pulpit's way.
Sometime during the late, late night,
The old man's body gave up the fight.
Don't be sad, the preacher said.
Shout hallelujah and praise instead.
His blind eyes--they now can see,
Useless legs have been set free.
He farmed the soil from dawn to dusk,
and always in God's Word did he trust.
A reunion he's having with son and wife,
who long ago had left this life.
And Jesus welcomed him to eternal rest,
This old man--he passed the test.
